Overview

What is the EGON electric chain hoist?

The EGON T-Series electric chain hoist is a chain hoist for lifting 0.5 to 30 tonnes, built to duty class M5 / 2m and run on AC 380 V, 3 phase, 50 Hz with a 36 VAC control circuit. It comes as a stationary suspension type (ST, 0.5–5 t), an electric trolley standard headroom type (UE, 1–5 t) and a heavy duty type (ST/UE, 10–30 t), each with single-speed or dual-speed lifting.

T-Series configurations

Three ways to hang an EGON chain hoist

Pick the configuration first, then the model in the specification tables below.

Key features

Built for precise, safe lifting

Cycloid transmission

Higher precision in lifting and lowering.

Double limit switch

Stops lifting and lowering automatically to prevent over-travel.

Front-motor clutch

An extra layer of protection for the hoist and the load.

Power-loss brake

Holds the load instantly when the power supply is cut.

Reverse phase protection

The control circuit will not run if incoming power is connected incorrectly.

36 VAC control voltage

Low control voltage protects the user and the system if current leaks.

G80 alloy load chain

Imported FEC / G80 super heat-treated alloy steel chain.

Enclosed outer case

Light, strong and fully enclosed, with high heat dissipation for harsh sites.

Double-chain saddle design

Lets you configure the suspension scheme flexibly. Fabric or steel chain bag.

How to read an EGON chain hoist model code

EGFH 03-02 UE = rated load 3 t, 2 load chains, electric trolley standard headroom type. ST is the stationary suspension type; ST/UE heavy duty models come in both versions.

Duty classification

Match the hoist to your duty class

EGON sizes hoists by FEM and ISO duty groups. Estimate your load spectrum and average daily operating time, then read the group from the table.

Load spectrum and daily operating time (tm, hours per day) for each FEM group

Average operating time per day: tm = (2 × HW × ASP × AZ) ÷ (60 × V), where HW is the average hook path (m), ASP the cycles per hour, AZ the working hours per day and V the hoisting speed (m/min).

How to choose

7 questions for choosing the right chain hoist

  1. What are the operating conditions? Environment, temperature, humidity, dust and space.
  2. What is the specified safe working load? The maximum load capacity for safety.
  3. To what height must the load be lifted? This sets the chain or rope length and the hoist type.
  4. What is the required lifting speed? High for production, low for maintenance.
  5. Must loads be lifted and lowered with great accuracy? Use an inverter or dual-speed motor for precision.
  6. Is horizontal load travel necessary? Then choose a hoist with a trolley, or a crane system.
  7. How is the hoist to be controlled? By pendant, remote control or control panel.

FAQ

Electric Chain Hoist: common questions

Quick answers from the product catalogue.

What lifting capacities do EGON electric chain hoists cover?

The EGON T-Series covers 0.5 to 30 tonnes: stationary suspension models from 0.5 to 5 t, electric trolley standard headroom models from 1 to 5 t, and heavy duty models from 10 to 30 t.

What is the difference between ST and UE chain hoists?

ST models are the stationary suspension type, hung from a fixed point. UE models are the electric trolley standard headroom type, which travel along the beam flange. Heavy duty models from 10 t are offered as ST/UE.

What duty class are EGON chain hoists?

Every model in the T-Series catalogue is rated M5 (ISO), which is group 2m under FEM.

What power supply does an EGON chain hoist need?

AC 380 V, 3 phase, 50 Hz. The control circuit runs at 36 VAC for user safety.

Should I choose a single-speed or dual-speed chain hoist?

Both are available on every model. Dual speed adds a slow speed, for example 2.2 / 6.8 m/min on a 1 t hoist, so the load can be positioned precisely.

Which safety features are standard?

A power-loss brake, double limit switches, a front-motor clutch, reverse phase protection and a 36 VAC control voltage. The load chain is imported FEC / G80 heat-treated alloy steel.
