Our sales engineers start every recommendation with these questions. Have the answers ready and we can size your equipment faster.
- What are the operating conditions? Environment, temperature, humidity, dust and space.
- What is the specified safe working load? The maximum load capacity for safety.
- To what height must the load be lifted? This sets the chain or rope length and the hoist type.
- What is the required lifting speed? High for production, low for maintenance.
- Must loads be lifted and lowered with great accuracy? Use an inverter or dual-speed motor for precision.
- Is horizontal load travel necessary? Then choose a hoist with a trolley, or a crane system.
- How is the hoist to be controlled? By pendant, remote control or control panel.

What products does EGON offer?
Five groups of lifting equipment: electric chain hoists (0.5–30 t), electric wire rope hoists (3–50 t), NWB electric winches (10–100 t), crane end carriages for cranes up to 20 t, and JLC entertainment hoists (250–2,000 kg).
Should I choose a chain hoist or a wire rope hoist?
Chain hoists suit fixed lifting points, workshops and light to medium cranes from 0.5 t. Wire rope hoists suit overhead cranes with heavier loads, longer lifting heights and frequent use, from 3 t up to 50 t. An engineer can confirm the right type from your load, height and duty.
What do FEM and ISO duty classes mean?
They rate how hard a hoist works, based on its load spectrum and daily operating time. FEM groups 1Bm, 1Am, 2m, 3m, 4m and 5m match ISO classes M3, M4, M5, M6, M7 and M8.
